TTPCom Taps Ethertronics
New Mobile Phones Require Extended Range for Built-in Digital Cameras, Multimedia Capabilities

Ethertronics, the leading developer and manufacturer of high performance internal/embedded antennas for wireless devices, today announced that TTPCom has selected its patented Isolated Magnetic Dipole™ (IMD) internal antennas for integration in a new line of mobile phones featuring built-in digital cameras and advanced multimedia capabilities. TTPCom, a world leading independent supplier of digital wireless communications technology is developing the multimedia phones for the European wireless market.

After assessing a variety of antenna options, TTPCom chose Ethertronics' IMD cellular antennas for their small size, high isolation properties and their extended range. The antenna's performance proved particularly impressive in a battery of tests. During an extensive field test, Ethertronics' antennas demonstrated their superiority completing calls from several known coverage "dead zones" that proved problematic for other antennas.

Known for their superior isolation properties and design flexibility, IMD antennas can be placed in smaller spaces and closer to surrounding electrical components than other internal antennas without compromising performance. This design flexibility allows manufacturers to make critical changes when needed, to integrate more advanced features and to get their products to market faster than ever before.

The antennas are also showing consistently superior results when tested in the standard mode of operation Š held up to the head. Most internal antennas experience major declines in performance when tested in this standard position. Due to its direct applicability to the end-user experience, head-testing is proving to be one of the best standard measurements for carriers striving to evaluate mobile phone performance and coverage in their networks.

"Coverage is a fundamental part of the mobility equation and antenna performance is critical to the success of any wireless device," said Mike Isgrig, vice president of marketing & North American sales at Ethertronics. "With most of the exciting new features being offered in mobile phones today, such as digital cameras and internet access, antenna performance is paramount. TTPCom's choice of our technology emphasizes the importance of coverage and the core advantages IMD technology delivers in mobile phones."
