Ethertronics, a developer and manufacturer of high performance internal/embedded antennas for personal and industrial wireless devices, today announced that Universal Scientific Industrial Co., Ltd. (USI) has chosen its antenna technology for USI's high performance wireless product family. Ethertronics' internal antennas will be used in wireless PC cards for tri-band WLAN applications using 802.11 a/b/g.
For its new wireless products, USI was looking to enhance the performance and minimize the antenna's space requirements for their embedded wireless module family. They also needed strong technical support in Taiwan. Ethertronics delivered on both fronts. Their patented Isolated Magnetic Dipole™ (IMD) technology went through rigorous performance and competitive testing. Ethertronics also provides extensive technical and sales support throughout Asia with teams located in the markets. "Ethertronics did an exceptional job of meeting our high performance criteria without forcing us to go through an expensive and time-consuming product redesign," stated C.Y. Wei, senior vice president and general manager of Communication Group of USI. "They reduced the size of the PC card's antenna housing and extended the range of the wireless link. This, combined with their strong, local technical support in Taiwan, was critical to our decision."
"We are building strong momentum and recognition within the wireless LAN market for the substantial benefits our technology offers. Now manufacturer's can leverage the superior design flexibility, unsurpassed efficiency and isolation of our IMD technology in a wide variety of WiFi and cellular products," remarked Mike Isgrig, vice president of marketing and business development for Ethertronics. "We are thrilled at the opportunity USI has given us to illustrate that our antennas outperform competitive products on the market, and for their strong endorsement of our technology."
The companies expect the new and improved High speed 802.11 tri-band PC cards to hit the enterprise and consumer markets by July, 2003.
