Ethertronics' Embedded Antenna Technology Deployed in a Microtune Bluetooth Solution
Ethertronics, a developer and manufacturer of high-performance embedded antennas for personal and industrial wireless devices, today announced that its M Series™ embedded antennas have been selected for the MT0750 Bluetooth® Headset Reference Design from Microtune®; Inc. (NASDAQ: TUNE). Microtune, a leading radio-frequency (RF)-based silicon and systems supplier, deployed the Ethertronics patented, embedded antenna technology in a customized Bluetooth solution developed for Skypower Wireless, Ltd. to enable hands-free communications in Skypower's EZtalk™ headsets and EZclip™ earsets. Skypower is an international designer and manufacturer of Bluetooth products and modules.
Ethertronics' M Series™ embedded antennas, which combine high performance, isolation and selectivity in an ultra thin Ôblade' design, offer flexible mounting options on a headset product's printed circuit board (PCB). Ethertronics supported Microtune in the development and testing of the Skypower headset design, which tailored the technology from the two companies for various Skypower product enclosures, while delivering optimum wireless performance, low power consumption, accelerated product design cycles and cost savings.
"Our breakthrough embedded antennas are 70% smaller than competitive internal antennas," commented Bruce Gray, Ethertronics' chief executive officer. "Their compact footprint and extended wireless range, coupled with the power-efficiency, superior voice quality and integration advantages of Microtune's Bluetooth headset-on-chip solution, provide compelling benefits for portable voice and data devices."
"We chose the integrated solution from Ethertronics and Microtune for its size, performance and overall system cost," stated Miki Sivan, executive director of Skypower Wireless, Ltd. "Their solution allowed us to quickly bring to market wireless headsets and earsets with superior performance, range and power consumption."
"Microtune's highly integrated wireless connectivity solution, consisting of the MT0750 headset-on-a-chip and companion software, provides the Bluetooth engine to enable the small size, feature-rich functionality, low battery power and superior voice quality in the Skypower products," explained Douglas J. Bartek, chairman and CEO of Microtune. "Our MT0750, when combined with the complementary antenna technology of Ethertronics, enables top-quality design and performance characteristics, while providing a competitive edge for customers in their next-generation wireless products."
All of Ethertronics' embedded antennas feature proprietary and patented antenna Ôshaping technology' which controls and re-directs the near-field electromagnetic pattern of the antenna's RF signal. This Ôshaping technology' allows for optimal antenna performance by improving signal strength and voice/data quality both inside buildings and in fringe network coverage areas. The technology significantly reduces the energy transmitted towards the user's body.
