Ethertronics, the leading developer and manufacturer of high performance internal/embedded antennas for wireless devices, today announced that Intel has has set the RF/antenna specification for its Centrino™ Wireless LAN (WLAN) chipset with the latest version of Ethertronics' Quad Band Isolated Magnetic Dipole antennas. Known for their outstanding performance, high isolation and small form factors, Ethertronics' solution is perfect for the fast growing notebook computer market, where mobility is the key.
Intel selected Ethertronics' technology based on months of evaluation and work directly with the Ethertronics' team. The primary goal of the Centrino program has been to create breakaway performance that optimizes range and battery life. They also required that the antenna solution cover standards for 802.11a, b, g and market specific frequencies for the Japanese market. They also needed a solution that was quickly scalable and could support production of millions of units per month.
"We are very excited by the opportunities to work with Intel on the Centrino project. Our IMD technology clearly delivers in tough environments and proved itself in the long rounds of testing in Intels' labs and in the field," said Mike Isgrig, V.P. Marketing & Sales at Ethertronics. "Our team was also able to deliver the level of support needed for a large OEM project of global scope."
With demand for WLAN, Bluetooth and Cellular growing in the notebook and peripheral markets, Ethertronics' Isolated Magnetic Dipole technology is uniquely positioned for enhanced performance and design flexibility, helping global OEM's bring their products to market quicker than ever before.
