Ethertronics Introduces Active FM and Tunable UHF Antenna Solutions to Drive the Next Generation of Mobile Entertainment Devices
Ethertronics, a leading provider of standard and customized embedded antenna solutions for wireless devices, today introduced its TavvelTM series of active FM and tunable UHF antenna solutions designed to drive the next generation of mobile-entertainment devices.

Ethertronics’ Tavvel series of internal, active FM antennas deliver on today’s unified media product designers’ key needs, including small form-factor and high performance across the 87.5 to 108 MHz spectrum bands. The antenna solution consists of a pre-tested, small form-factor, SMD active antenna tuning module with an antenna element customizable to fit in a wide range of FM-enabled handsets and mobile products, including: mobile phones, notebook computers, portable DVD players, media appliances, netbooks and ultra mobile PCs. The antenna module interfaces to the antenna element itself and the host silicon over a simple interface used to control and command the solution to tune to a specific frequency band or channel.
Like its active FM antenna solutions, Ethertronics’ Tavvel series of tunable UHF antennas represents a new category of small form-factor, internal tunable antennas. The UHF antenna solution utilizes an innovative and unique antenna element and associated tunable module pair to meet device designers’ needs for higher functionality and performance in smaller, thinner designs. The solution meets or exceeds the MBRAI specification for antenna efficiency over the entire UHF bandwidth of operation. The solution itself has low power-consumption (less than 100uAmps), a small footprint, and is easily integrated with the rest of the associated mobile TV silicon. Also designed for mobile phones, notebook computers, media appliances, netbooks and ultra mobile PCs, these active antennas operate in the 474 – 870 MHz UHF bands and can be used for support of Mobile TV standards such as DVB-T, DVB-H, ISDB-T, CMMB, and more.
